Best Rolex for Women
After 25 years of selling ladies Rolex watches, the question we hear most is "which one should I start with?" The answer depends on wrist size and context, but we keep coming back to the same four references.
The Lady-Datejust 28 is the most versatile — works dressed up or down, available in enough configurations to suit any taste, and starts at $4,500 pre-owned in steel. If 28mm feels too small, the Datejust 31 is the step up without jumping to a full-size 36. The Oyster Perpetual 28 is the choice for buyers who want simplicity over everything — no date, no complication, prices starting at $3,800. And the Yacht-Master 29mm is where to look if a sport reference matters — rotating bezel, Rolesor case, from $8,000.
Lady-Datejust 28
Start here if you're unsure. The Lady-Datejust carries everything the full-size Datejust has — cyclops lens, Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, fluted or smooth bezel — in a 28mm case. Most women who try it on after looking at larger references are surprised how right it feels.
Steel: $4,500 to $6,500. Add a diamond bezel or factory markers and you're at $7,500 and above. Two-tone Rolesor: $6,500 to $10,000. Full 18k Everose gold with diamonds can reach $25,000.
The dial options across decades of production are where pre-owned gets interesting. Mother-of-pearl, champagne, diamond hour markers in configurations Rolex no longer produces. You're choosing from a much deeper inventory than any AD can show you.
Datejust 31
The 31mm is the size most buyers don't know exists until they see it. Too small for a traditional men's watch, too large for the classic ladies Rolex — and exactly right for a lot of wrists that fall between.
Pre-owned in steel: $5,000 to $8,000. The premiums for two-tone and gold follow the Lady-Datejust structure but run $500 to $1,000 higher at each tier. We sell more Datejust 31s to women who initially came in looking at the 28mm than any other reference. Once they try it on, the extra 3mm changes the conversation.
Ladies Rolex Oyster Perpetual
The Oyster Perpetual in 28mm and 31mm is the most understated option in the ladies Rolex range. No date, no complications — just time in a clean Oyster case with an automatic movement. For buyers who want a Rolex that reads as considered without announcing itself, the OP is the right answer.
Pre-owned Oyster Perpetual 28 in steel: $3,800 to $5,500. The colorful dials from recent production command small premiums over standard options and are increasingly sought after by younger buyers.
Datejust Pearlmaster
The Pearlmaster is the statement piece. Five-link integrated bracelet unique to this reference, precious metals only, diamond configurations that go as far as Rolex will take them.
Pre-owned: $8,000 to $35,000+. The range is enormous because the configurations vary from clean gold to fully set bezels, dials, and bracelets. One thing to watch: aftermarket diamond settings show up on pre-owned Pearlmasters more often than on other references. Factory Rolex settings and aftermarket work look different under magnification. Ask before you buy.
Ladies Yacht-Master
For buyers who want a sport watch that doesn't look like a sport watch on a smaller wrist. The Yacht-Master in 29mm and 37mm has a rotating bezel and more visual presence than any Datejust, but reads as refined rather than utilitarian.
Rolesor (steel and platinum): $8,000 to $13,000. Full gold sits above $15,000. The 37mm has been gaining traction with buyers who find the 29mm too dainty and want something with more wrist presence.

Buying Pre-Owned vs New
Used Rolex watches for women offer the same authenticity and quality as new, at lower prices — particularly on references where current production has moved on. A Rolex for women with a discontinued dial configuration or a Pearlmaster from a specific era isn't available new anymore. The pre-owned market is the only source.
Every ladies Rolex for sale at Ermitage Jewelers has been inspected by our in-house watchmaker, tested for timing accuracy, and issued our written warranty. Authentication on diamond-set references includes verification of setting quality and originality. We've been doing this since 2000.
